People arrive for the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda on Jan. 20.

Part I

January 20th marked a new milestone not only in the history of the United States, but also of the entire world. In fact, this is a second chance for the entire American people, which cannot be ignored. Donald Trump is following the path of the greatest resistance, refusing to continue the policies of his predecessor. Trump’s case is unusual in that he is the first president in the 20th and 21st century to return to the White House after a four-year hiatus. The very fact of his return proves that not only has he not lost popular support over the past 4 years, but on the contrary, he has increased it. So far, no one in modern history has been able to overcome such a powerful resistance from the ruling elite of the United States on the way to another term as President.

Another significant factor is that the one who has been openly saying for the past 4 years that “his elections were stolen” is returning to the White House. The actions of the President-elect’s supporters, as well as the very return of Donald Trump to the White House, confirm his claims.

The second term will be marked by a number of special features. Trump came back stronger. He was able to put together a team of professionals, consisting not only of politicians, but also of businessmen. The Democratic Party has weakened, and we can generally say that the democratic political elite has been split. There is a saying that one shouldn’t change horses in midstream. This is exactly what the Democrats made a mistake in – replacing Joe Biden with Kamala Harris. Many of those who until recently openly supported Harris and Biden now openly swear allegiance to Trump. It is fair to say that Mark Zuckerberg, the head of Meta and the founder of Facebook, has become a symbol of this. He ended fact-checking on a social network after having dinner with Donald Trump, giving “the green light” to all those whose opinions had previously been suppressed.

He already has the social network X in his asset, now the largest social network in the world is joining him, and the Chinese TikTok risks losing the American market for itself if it cannot negotiate with the authorities and find a buyer within the United States. By subjugating social media, Trump will be able to control the information space. Of course, we should not forget that there are other ways of “manipulating” the population: newspapers, television. However, with the development of technology, it is social networks which have become central to this paradigm. Trump wants to return to attempts to eliminate the “deep state” in the United States, and his current positions are much more stable than those he possessed during his first term.

For his supporters, his second presidency is not so much an opportunity to strengthen their positions as to push the liberals back from the heights to which they have ascended. There are completely different ways to evaluate the results of Joe Biden’s presidency, but the fact remains that he had a chance to prove to the American society that the US Democratic Party is really fighting for democracy. Nevertheless, it was his term that marked an increase in the influence of the “shadow council” and political clans. Given Biden’s old age and his constant blunders, it can even be assumed that someone was operating him from behind the scenes. As a result, the Democratic party simply exhausted the credibility of the population, bet on the wrong electorate, and therefore lost.

The overwhelming majority (60 percent) of Americans are optimistic about Trump’s second term. According to the disclosed data, 60 percent of respondents were optimistic about the next four years of Donald Trump as the head of the United States. Accordingly, 40 percent of respondents do not share the opinion of positive Americans. US residents did not greet Trump’s first presidential term so positively – 56 percent of respondents then expected changes for the better. The poll results echo many of the reasons why Trump won in the first place. Americans expect the president to lower food prices, improve their financial situation, and bring more peace and stability to the world.

Americans’ hopes for the predecessor Joe Biden were not so great – in the corresponding survey in 2021, 58 percent of respondents expected good things from the Democratic president. At the same time, US citizens used to be more optimistic in their expectations of presidents. So, before the presidential term of Barack Obama, 79 percent of Americans were optimistic, Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton – 70 percent, Ronald Reagan – 69 percent.

For his plans to be realized, the president-elect needs to receive the support of not only citizens, but also the political elite. If not all of it, then at least part of it. He is ready to respond in kind: it is not for nothing that TikTok was unblocked even before taking office, based on only one oral statement from the elected president. This is a step towards the American people, as well as a signal to the business elite that the government is ready to meet halfway if business is ready to defend the interests of the United States. Trump does not separate business and politics. For him and his supporters, they are closely intertwined. And that’s what makes him strong.
