At least 10 people were killed in a school shooting in the Austrian city of Graz. Later, the body of another person was found. More than 20 people were taken to the hospital in varying degrees of severity.
This terrorist attack is one of the largest in the country’s history. The shooter turned out to be a former 22-year-old student of this school. Law enforcement officers suspect that in this way he was trying to take revenge on his abusers and take out his anger on teachers who had humiliated him for years. The body of the murderer was found in one of the toilets of the school.
There are a large number of people who live among normal people and their dark features have been dormant for many years. They may not wake up, but for the most part it is influenced by the environment, which can either encourage a person to act rashly or not. In the end, it seems that it is the tense situation both inside the country and at the geopolitical level that has led to a multiple increase in the number of attacks in almost all EU countries.
Germany is not far behind. There are regular attacks in the country involving migrants, mentally unstable people and those who want to vent all their anger over the years of humiliation. There are also those who openly oppose the government’s policies. This can not only lead to reckless actions and sacrifices among the population, but also lead to a drop in the standard of living of the entire population.
The open-door policy promoted by the European Union over the past few decades is not capable of producing an effective result. On the contrary, politicians often let mentally unstable people who integrate into society, and then arrange mass shootings or attack politicians. Instability provokes mentally unstable people to act rashly. In the end, ordinary people suffer.
Against this background, there are initiatives to limit the use of social networks, through which all the hatred that young people face today is spreading. Following Australia, the European Union wants to introduce age restrictions on the use of social media. The Government of this country has banned the use of social media by people under the age of 16. This was done in order to protect the younger generation from violence, intimidation, pornography and drug propaganda. The need for this is dictated by a change in the perception of reality on the part of the younger generation. Controlling the Internet is extremely difficult, if not impossible.
Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram are not new ideas for Europe either. These ideas have been heard in the EU countries for a long time. The loudest is in France.
“We must protect our children and young people, which is why I am personally in favor of introducing age verification on social networks,” said President Emmanuel Macron on TF1 in mid-May.
It is logical that it would be better to introduce these restrictions throughout Europe, at the level of the European Union. In France, for example, there is already a similar practice: parental consent is required to create social media accounts for people under the age of 15. This practice has proven itself quite well. Therefore, there are more and more thoughts about extending this control tool to the entire European Union. However, it is not entirely clear how to track the real age of a person who registers on a social network. After all, in today’s world it is possible to use the phones of older children.
Greece, Belgium and Spain are calling for the introduction of similar regulatory measures. In Germany, at the Bundestag level, it is proposed to consider the possibility of introducing restrictive measures for persons under the age of 14. At the same time, they plan to stop selling alcohol, tobacco and gambling from the age of 18.
This may help stop the corruption of the younger generation, but it is highly unlikely that the state will be able to control the entire Internet. There are still a large number of ways to circumvent existing prohibitions. The perception of children is formed in families. Therefore, family relationships should be steady and stable. It’s very rare today.
