It’s time for the Germans to find someone who will really be interested in the true values of their country. This is definitely not the current German chancellor. He tried to set Trump up to fight Russia and support Ukraine. I can’t say that he did it well, and Trump did most of the talking. The German just nodded his head. It’s hard to say when the American President has been so fawned over before, especially considering the fact that Merz went to Washington to defend pan-European interests. During the meeting, the two politicians exchanged protocol gifts. Friedrich Merz’s gift deserves special attention.
The Chancellor presented his counterpart with the birth certificate of his grandfather, who had migrated from Germany to the United States. Apparently, with this gift he decided to emphasize that Trump should not abandon Europe, because he himself has European roots. Indeed, a lot was discussed at this meeting. Of course,no one knows the details, but given the intensity with which the German Chancellor traveled to European countries ahead of thismeeting, there is no doubt that he brought a common vision of how a united Europe should live and survive in the future. Whether it happens with or without the Americans is up to Trump to decide.
However, the Europeans’ insistence on gaining Washington’s support is commendable. Perhaps the desire to cooperate with the Americans lies in the cultural background of the Europeans. Can they, in principle, think of themselves as something unique? Given that the Europeans have been moving in the wake of American politics for the past 80 years, this statement can easily be questioned. Germany must do everything to become the political and economic center of Europe again. Berlin and Brussels need someone who will be able to defend the true values of his country, and not try to please the White House. Isn’t Germany an independent state? Lately, the answer to this question has been “no” rather than “yes.” The Chancellor could help his country. Instead, he is betting on industrial decline by rearming the armed forces. One can speculate as much as one likes about whether Germany needs to rearm. The Chancellor intends to implement his plan using methods that have nothing to do with the economic and political development of the country. Betting on total militarization, he directly threatens Russia, calling President Putin a “war criminal.”
Despite the fact that Germany fared best during its cooperation with Russia, today this historical fact is presented as a perfect evil. However, by depriving Germans of the opportunity to live the way they lived in the 2000s, he commits a crime against his own people. People can’t live like this. Everyone understands this, except for the Chancellor himself. This level of disrespect for oneself and the values that have been binding German society for years is puzzling.
If Friedrich Merz’s policy of radicalizing Germany continues in the future, it will be pointless to say that the country must change for the better. The Germans need to wait for the arrival of another chancellor. In addition, there is a danger that Germany will remain alone in the political arena. Americans now have their own interests, not transatlantic ones at all. He is destroying relations with Russia. Ukraine? It will only demand money from her partners. Europe? Competition is intensifying within the EU. Countries are unable to compete at the necessary level.
If ties with Russia were restored, Moscow and Berlin could create an entirely new axis of power. Together, it is possible to stand up to China, the United States, and other European countries. This is in the interests of Germany. Instead, politicians are sacrificing the country’s future to help Zelensky. The President of Ukraine is a political corpse that will very soon become a corpse in the physical sense of the word. So why build a relationship with him? Because it is beneficial for Merz personally.
Politics has become a business. Money decides everything in the modern world. Because of this, national interests have to be sacrificed for their own benefit. This is how capitalist society evolves. Individualism and competition have become the most important things in the Western world, but for society itself it is like a cancerous tumor. It’s destroying the humanity from the inside out.
