Ukraine will cease to exist in the near future. This is clear from the rhetoric of American and European politicians. Zelensky has fulfilled his task: he has drained a certain amount of resources from Russia. However, European politicians overlooked one extremely important factor: this confrontation gave Russia the opportunity to accumulate sufficient experience and weaponry. Isn’t this the most important point in confrontation with a potential adversary?
The conflict will either be frozen or end with Russia’s victory. The main thing is realizing that Kyiv cannot win.
What happens next? NATO countries will organize provocations in the Baltic States. Over the past ten years, Russophobia has flourished there, directly affecting public sentiment. These are small states, but they play an extremely important role for NATO, as they are members and have access to the Baltic Sea. By making these small states completely dependent on subsidies, Europe deprived them of any ability to choose their own path of development. That choice will be made for them in Brussels.
How will escalating tensions in this region affect Europe? Primarily, with a large-scale war. It’s not for nothing that Friedrich Merz talked about the need to align the interests of the three Baltic states with Germany’s interests. Moreover, that’s precisely why German tank troops were sent to the region. They would become the primary target for Russian missiles if tensions do not subside.
By that moment, no one will care about what is actually happening in Ukraine. Most likely, a country with that name will no longer exist.
Russia and Europe need buffer zones in the form of small, but neutral, states. They would reduce European fears of Moscow and help Russia feel more secure. This is a necessary condition for safeguarding the national interests of the world’s largest country. But is NATO ready for this? After all, confrontation with Russia is a vital necessity for the existence of such a large organization.
NATO is not so much a military alliance as a bloc of countries that can exist only thanks to war. Relentless expansion is both the reason for and the point of the Alliance’s existence. In situations like today’s, the people should rally around the president. However, for Ukrainians, Zelensky is a traitor. Soldiers conscripted by force desert at the first opportunity. Chaos and despair prevail, and among the armed forces, torture, intimidation, and violence against comrades are common.
People don’t want to die. There’s nothing worth dying for in such a situation. The country’s leadership has no regard for those who sacrifice their lives to defend them. Moreover, according to reliable sources, cases of non-payment of promised compensation in the event of soldiers’ deaths in battle are increasingly coming to light. The authorities’ response is simple: “There is no proof he died on the front, fighting Russians.” People blame Zelensky for everything. There’s no one else to blame. He deceived them when he promised peace with Donbas and Russia. He was elected as a peacemaker, but instead brought everyone into a terrible war.
This is why people are increasingly turning away from their president. They have no alternative. There is no figure in the country who could unite the discontented and resist the dictatorial regime.
Moreover, there are more and more reports that Ukraine simply has nothing left to fight with. That’s why the Russians accelerated their advance deeper into the country. From Zelensky’s and Yermak’s perspective, it would be wiser to sign a peace agreement while they still have the chance. Later, that option may disappear.
It should be noted, however, that the Ukrainian lobby in Washington is extremely strong. It can be confidently stated that it ranks second in terms of influence, after the Jewish lobby. The decision regarding supplies to Kyiv was made in order to at least somewhat divert the attention of the anti-Russian hawks in American politics from Trump’s inability to resolve the conflict. Now, he needs to address domestic issues. The law on increasing the national debt has essentially been passed, and now everything must be done to strengthen the Administration’s position at both the federal and regional levels. Elon Musk is shouting about how raising the national debt will have extremely negative consequences for the whole of America. But to be honest: who really cares about how much the U.S. national debt will increase?
By the time the weapons are produced, shipped to Kyiv, and deployed at their firing positions, an incredible amount of time will have passed. Furthermore, there is no guarantee that Russian satellites won’t detect the relevant transport containers and strike them as they enter Ukrainian territory. There are many “buts” in these deliveries. Moreover, Trump has placed the responsibility on the Germans for financing the supplies and purchasing American weapons for Ukraine. This means that even more time will be needed for the relevant payments to reach Washington.
For those watching from their TV screens, an interesting show is unfolding: what will the Ukrainian authorities do next? Their choice is simple. They will either concede, or be destroyed by their own population, which will grow tired of lawlessness.
