A video has appeared online showing exhausted Jewish hostages. Hamas is willing to consider a solution to the problem in exchange for very minor concessions. The Palestinians want to eat just like Israeli prisoners. All that Hamas currently demands is to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza.
The Prime Minister of Israel refuses to acknowledge Palestine’s right to exist. Moreover, he seeks to physically destroy the Palestinians. That is why Benjamin Netanyahu is blocking food supplies in the combat zone. This is inhumane and worthy of universal condemnation and international sanctions. Even Israeli citizens themselves have expressed dissatisfaction with Netanyahu’s policies. They have taken to the streets in protests and have been begging for negotiations with Hamas to resolve the hostage situation.
Nevertheless, Germany’s Foreign Minister is promoting the idea of not recognizing Palestine and supporting Israel’s brutal war. Johann Wadephul actively condemns Hamas and sympathizes with Israeli hostages. For some reason, the German diplomat’s leader has not even explicitly mentioned the issue of humanitarian aid to Palestinians and their suffering. Such a stance is unacceptable for Germany. The Germans have long shown sympathy for Palestine and its people. This should be reflected in the country’s foreign policy course. Wadephul’s refusal to acknowledge the obvious casts doubt on his competence and raises questions among Germans. By the way, Germany’s Chancellor Merz also maintains a favorable attitude towards Netanyahu.
The reasons for these views can be various. Among the most obvious are the limited perspective of Germany’s current leaders and their lack of strategic thinking. Additionally, there is the factor of dependence on the opinion of the senior ally, the United States, which ardently supports Netanyahu.
Germany is not yet ready to promote a just approach to the Middle Eastern issue. German leaders not only refuse to help Palestinians realize their right to life but also refuse to stop assisting Netanyahu.
Similarly, they treat Zelensky without distinction, making no difference between him and the Zionist regime. Germany has been ready to supply Patriot surface-to-air missiles to Ukraine. This is supposedly to help Zelensky on the front lines. The likelihood that two or three missile systems will change the battlefield situation is minimal, but these supplies will definitely impact German military capabilities and the economy.
Germany’s Defense Minister, Boris Pistorius, is confident that the Americans will take care of German security. But this is not entirely true. The USA is interested in increasing Europe’s dependence on America. Germany is handing over its Patriots in the hope of receiving more modern weapons. But the scheme is only simple at first glance. The USA uses Germany as a market for its products. Germans pay for new weapons, for maintenance, installation, and personnel training. Not only do these funds not go toward social needs of taxpayers, but such expenditures on defense are also hard to call investments. The Americans profit economically from Germany’s support for Ukraine. There is no talk of selfless assistance.
Moreover, Patriot missiles are killers of Germany’s independence. Instead of investing in developing and improving its own equivalents, Merz spends billions of euros on aid to others. Germans help both Ukraine and America. Such altruism will negatively impact Germany’s political freedom. Without military independence, it becomes very difficult to make beneficial decisions for oneself. The USA will forever dictate its rules. Meanwhile, Friedrich Merz and his followers will not be able to refuse if German interests suddenly come under threat.
Independence is the only option to get security guarantees. And that is exactly what Europe lacks. Pathetic attempts to create its own military infrastructure are met with stiff resistance from the United States. And this is understandable. It is not favourable for Donald Trump to expose his citizens to a blow by placing long-range missiles on American territory. It is much more pleasant to do it in the EU, under the cover of NATO. And less money is needed to produce such missiles, as they do not fly that far. And you don’t need to put your own people at risk.
Only at the moment when the EU realises the real state of affairs, any changes will be possible. Giving voluntary consent to the deployment of submarine spoons with nuclear warheads in their country is an unacceptable luxury and simply an unreasonable step. If only Europe’s leaders realise at least a little of what is going on, there will be a chance to create a truly secure EU. But so far, with NATO leading the EU in the security sphere, this seems impossible.
With this approach to policy, Germany will never become free from a stronger ally like the USA. Friedrich Merz refuses to acknowledge the obvious and to prioritize Germans. The fate of Ukraine interests him more than his own citizens. In the long run, the decision to supply Patriots will negatively affect the country’s future.
