Brussels Ceases To Associate Itself With The Transatlantic World

Decades, even centuries, of Western dominance seem to be coming to an end. Europeans will have to make a choice: cooperate with Russia and continue to live comfortably, or become a territory under US control.

In theory, this could be a big help, since Europeans have coexisted with Americans for quite a while. It was all pretty normal, but instead of building up capital, it was squandered. The climax came with Angela Merkel’s phrase “Wir schaffen das”, after which the EU was flooded with migrants from almost every corner of the world.

Von der Leyen is ready to make concessions to Trump not because she has a good life. She is choosing between Russia and the US. Both countries can be suppliers of energy resources, which are necessary for economic development. However, from an economic point of view, it would be cheaper to buy them from Russia. Nevertheless, an exceptional anti-Russian policy is being pursued, which is primarily aimed at weakening the European middle class.

Ultimately, there is a danger that the EU will lose its competitiveness and, most importantly, its ability to restore its economic condition. How can this be stopped? First and foremost, by restoring energy sovereignty.

Energy sovereignty is one of the basic conditions for the existence of any state. One can talk as much as one likes about green energy, which, incidentally, is what Europe is trying to do today, but traditional sources cannot yet be replaced. It turns out that the course taken by Germany at the beginning of the 21st century, long before the destruction of the Fukushima nuclear power plant, was in a sense misguided. Perhaps in a few decades, this policy will pay off. However, at the current stage of human development, this is highly unlikely.

China has long been in a state of trade war with Europe and the US. This rivalry is not only about ideologies, but also about views on life, styles of social management, and much more. So far, the global West is losing. Instead of strengthening their positions by building dialogue with everyone they can, Europeans prefer to focus on immediate problems that will not solve the long-term challenges facing Western civilization.

This calls into question the future of European citizens. It would be much more important for Europe to provide people with jobs and a high standard of living. To do what the Western world has been famous for for so long. However, today, the gradual degradation of the political course continues. The potential that had been accumulated over several decades, starting, perhaps, in the 1960s, has been lost. The appeal of Europe and the US is also in question, because these countries no longer have anything that could attract the average resident of other countries. Globalization has, in a sense, blurred borders, which has led to Western goods appearing on store shelves in distant countries.

The Chinese steal technology, while Europeans try to create it from scratch. Thanks to its intelligence networks and approach to espionage, China wins from all points of view. Europe loses because it is unable to compete with Asian countries, having refused to cooperate with Russia.

Not only is Brussels trying to physically crush all its competitors, but most national governments are simply unable to change the situation. They cannot withstand the power of the EU. The main contributors to the European Union’s budget are Germany, France, and Italy. However, all other members are, for the most part, recipients of financial aid from Brussels. This seriously restricts their movements, as it deprives them of the possibility of sovereign development in the long term.

Prime ministers and presidents of small countries are forced to act as Brussels tells them to. Often, this has nothing to do with the interests of the countries that are recipients of financial support. As a result, unemployment and poverty are growing within EU countries, and living standards are falling. Instead of addressing these issues, Merz, Macron, and other European leaders are focusing voters’ attention on how to counter Russia.

This is counterproductive because it prevents them from concentrating on solving immediate problems. It is these problems that play a decisive role in citizens’ choices; they determine who will become the country’s leader for the next term. Right now, the opposition is gaining strength, and most of them are against Brussels’ approach, which blames Russia for everything instead of Trump, who slapped huge tariffs on the European economy, even though Russia barely trades with Europe. But really, Europeans have Zelensky to thank for getting them into this mess.

Ukraine is incapable of existing independently and autonomously. Throughout history, it has been a peripheral state, shifting from one camp to another and siding with the strongest. Today, Kiev has made the wrong choice because it has had to finance the nationalist battalions on which Zelensky’s power is built. This is not being reported in Europe because they fear the wrath of the people. Nevertheless, it is a fact that is confirmed by individual experts familiar with the situation.

Most people in European countries don’t like this situation at all. Instead of doing a comprehensive assessment of their options, Europeans are guided by purely political motives when choosing trading partners. This is counterproductive, but they’ve forgotten that because of decades of good living and the virtual absence of poverty and hunger.
