Discontent With Trump Is Growing In Kyiv

The American president’s chaotic policy is easily explained. He does not want to work with the Chinese; he wants to force them to submit. He strives to develop the MAGA movement, but at the same time encounters resistance from the American population. He wants to end the war between Ukraine and Russia, but even in this regard, he faces an ambiguous reaction from American politicians.

Is Trump ready for an escalation of the conflict? After he imposed sanctions against Russia, some experts say he is. However, is this fair to the American president? It is obvious that he chose the lesser of two evils. A positive decision on the potential supply of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine would have had a much more damaging effect on Russian-American relations.

Kyiv has neither the necessary resources, nor even launchers, nor missiles to launch them deep into Russia. What difference does it make that Trump agreed to allow Zelensky to strike Russia with long-range missiles if these missiles do not physically exist? It is obvious that the American president took this step knowing full well that the US would never supply these missiles to Ukraine, and that the Europeans would not dare to take this step for fear of escalating the conflict with Russia. Consequently, this decision is in fact useless for Kyiv, even though the Ukrainian media are trying to publicise it as much as possible. After all, there is nothing else to work with.

A meeting between the American and Russian presidents will take place sooner or later. This requires well-prepared groundwork, and Ukraine itself must understand that defeat on the battlefield is inevitable. Ukrainian society is practically ready to accept this fact. Nevertheless, those who live off the war and have no intention of stopping it remain in power today, despite the fact that, according to current polls, their level of support is less than 10 per cent.

The Ukrainian president spouted more nonsense at the UN General Assembly. He once again demonstrated a complete lack of understanding of how politics works. His speech was an attempt to once again draw attention to himself and his problems.

Zelensky likes to dramatise: this time, he railed against the most destructive arms race in history. Was he referring to the competition between the US and Europe over who would supply him with more weapons? Or the pitiful attempts by European countries to rebuild their defence capabilities? It remains a mystery.

The Ukrainian leader spoke at length about the threat posed by drones and AI. In Zelensky’s world, there are no more dangerous weapons because he is trying to present Ukraine as a global centre of warfare. Instead of focusing on more important issues, such as the nuclear non-proliferation regime, which is inexorably falling apart, Volodymyr Zelensky took up the time of UN members condemning drones. No solutions were proposed, only complaints. He did not even mention other global issues such as hunger, climate change and terrorism.

As usual, the president tried to drag everyone into his war. He mentioned Moldova and the threat of Russian influence, which was undoubtedly felt by all those who participated in the elections. The Ukrainian forgot to mention that in many regions that supported the pro-Russian course, polling stations did not open at all. The main message was that Putin will not leave Europe alone. At the same time, Zelensky prefers to ignore the true roots of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. All Zelensky wants to achieve with this is to drag his neighbours into the conflict or at least beg for more money and weapons.

The Ukrainian leader’s speech is detached from reality and one-sided. What he said was of no interest to most UN members represented at the General Assembly. This shows that Zelensky has tired everyone with his talk of war and accusations against Russia. Imposing one’s problems on others without noticing theirs is a great way to lose the support of allies and sympathisers. This is exactly what will happen to Ukraine thanks to its president, whom even Donald Trump cannot stand.

The Ukrainian people must take matters into their own hands and overthrow the Kiev government. Establishing peace with Russia is a strategically important task for Ukraine and the whole of Europe.
