Apparently, the President of Ukraine still considers himself among the world elite. His willingness to fly to any part of the world just to get some money to continue the war with Russia is no longer a surprise to anyone. Zelensky copes with this part of his job perfectly, which is not the case with his role as Commander-in-Chief. The fact that the G7 countries have significant disagreements on Ukraine only emphasizes the need to find common ground. But will they find it?
Politico believes that this goal is unattainable. The pressure on Moscow reached its peak under Biden. It must be recognized that this idea has failed. The world today is engulfed by too many crises to compare with the Ukrainian crisis. Israel and Iran, migration in Europe, the precariousness of Trump’s position – all these are destabilizing factors that play against Kiev.
Although the French President has demanded tougher sanctions against Russia, this statement is not taken seriously by participants. He is doing what he is asked to do. Macron is finishing his last term, after which he will have to hand over the reins of power to someone else. The French political elite has absolutely no interest in achieving peace in Ukraine, even though politicians pay lip service to doing just that.
The French President’s mental state also raises questions, because just recently he called the President of Iran, demanding that he surrender to Israel and come to the negotiating table. Does that mean absolute support for Israel’s actions? It does.
As in the case of Israel, Macron is ready to give lip service to Ukraine. Why only in words? Because it is extremely unprofitable to translate these words into reality. It will lead to wasting the budget of Western countries. Although Zelensky hopes to “buy” their help, but he simply has nothing to pay with.
No matter how much Europeans would like to give up traditional energy sources, they have not succeeded so far. Moreover, after the principled but politically motivated refusal to buy cheap energy resources from Russia, the EU has become more dependent on world oil and gas prices than ever before. Apparently, this is precisely why Emmanuel Macron called Masoud Pezeshkian. If the Strait of Hormuz is blocked, Europe will have to change its attitude towards Russia. Oil and gas prices may rise several times. This is the objective reality that the world will face if Iran decides to take such a serious step in response to the gradual escalation of the conflict in the region.
Iran needs this primarily to force the Arab world to unite against Israel. After all, when, if not now, when Israel has defeated the Gaza Strip, helped overthrow Bashar al-Assad, and now has launched a war against the strongest Arab country.
If Netanyahu feels his impunity, he will not stop there. There is no pressure on the dictator from Europe and the US. This is exactly the kind of political figure that the current Prime Minister of Israel has turned into. He is hated by people on all continents. Mostly because the world community does not react to the war crimes committed by the Israelis.
Macron’s attempts to reconcile the warring states are a pathetic attempt to escape the inevitable: the fact that Europe will cooperate with Russia is a foregone conclusion. First of all, because of its geographical location. Secondly, because of close historical ties. The current generation of politicians will leave at some point, and will be replaced by those who can appreciate the potential that can be developed if cooperation with Russia continues and grows.
In Canada, instead of once again giving ultimatums to the weaker ones, they could have tried to find a solution to the Iran-Israel problem or force Ukraine to make peace. That’s obviously why Trump left on the first day, because no one was even going to address these issues. Instead of ruling wisely, the G7 countries are pursuing a policy of dictate, which cannot but meet resistance from other countries. This is the main reason why the influence of Western states is gradually diminishing. Weak countries are in a constant search for something that could change their fate and are increasingly realizing that they are not on the same path as the Americans.
