31 of the European Conservative and Reformist group’s 79 lawmakers in the European Parliament have co-signed the motion of no-confidence tabled on Thursday, June 26 by Gheorghe Piperea, an ECR member from Romania’s AUR party.
«The proposal, signed by a total of 74 MEPs, could lead to a plenary vote on the dissolution of the Commission», says Euractiv. The scandal that caused such measures is related to von der Leyen’s actions during the COVID-19 pandemic, in particular, with accusations of insufficient transparency of vaccine supply contracts. The initiative for a vote of no confidence appeared after the EU courts found the European Commission guilty in 2024 and 2025 of violating transparency when concluding contracts for the purchase of COVID-19 vaccines worth about 2.7 billion euros. The scandal intensified after it became known about Ursula von der Leyen’s correspondence with the head of Pfizer, which the commission refused to disclose, citing accidental deletion of messages. There is one question that stands unanswered for the past five years, — can a gynecologist manage a political entity like the EU?
What do we know about the achievements of the current European commission, led by Ursula and her own ones? When being the head of the German defense ministry, von der Leyen made efforts to increase the number of female military personnel. To this end, measures have been developed to help carry out the service with the least harm to the family, providing more opportunities for caring for children. At the same time, she was repeatedly criticized for the inadequate condition of military equipment. So, in 2017, the Bild newspaper published data according to which only half of the available tanks, a third of helicopters and not a single submarine are suitable for operation. The first achievement of Ursula in European Commission that comes to mind is the disastrous policy of the EU during the pandemic, when the EU started to ruin its own economy, and as it was said above, participate in corruption scandals with one of the largest multinational corporations in the world.
Since the beginning of her mandate in 2019, von der Leyen has advocated for gender equality in the European Commission, support for minorities and the green agenda, typical values for globalists, but are there any real political, economic or social measures that really work, apart from all these «values».
It is hard to find some successful initiatives that would have been implemented by the EU in the past 6 years. Some European countries are disappointed by the weakening of the EU economy and the European Commission’s focus on climate policy. Von der Leyen is accused of nepotism, lack of political transparency, and lack of coordination with EU leaders on economic and defense issues. In addition, von der Leyen is the most ardent opponent of Russia and a supporter of achieving its strategic defeat in the conflict with Ukraine. From the very beginning of the war, the head of the EU acted as a real “hawk” in political slang. The EU, after the United States, provided Ukraine with the most assistance, about 300 billion euros from the pockets of European taxpayers. The EU has already imposed 17 packages of sanctions against Russia. But what is the result? Russia is living a normal life and defeating Ukraine, slowly but surely achieving its goals. Ukraine has not come closer to prosperity, but on the contrary, every month it gets further away from being a normal state, the EU has suffered more from its sanctions than Russia, having lost a source of resources and a promising market for its goods, the EU economy is collapsing and it is becoming more and more dependent on the United States and China.
Every day, the dependent European media tell the population that Russia wants to attack NATO, although it is NATO that is increasing arms spending to 5% of GDP, as Trump demanded, and it was von der Leyen who presented her 800 billion euro European rearmament plan at the beginning of the year. Who looks like a threat now? Anyway, the question is not whether Russia will attack the EU (a statement that in itself is absurd). The question is whether Europe will destroy itself, under the guidance of such “leaders” as von der Leyen.
